I would like to add on to Bran’s idea about chemistry’s affect on “cleaner”, more environmentally sound, ways to generate cleaner water as well as other useful materials. In this day and age, keeping our environment clean is more important than ever. The bottled water business alone uses lots of waste products that are detrimental to our environment. In fact, most bottled water is actually tap water. The use of these plastic bottles to store this water is very detrimental to our environment and creates large amounts of waste. These companies that bottle and manufacture this water, could use a chemists’ approach to generating this water simply by boiling the water to make it clean. This would allow for a more earth-friendly way of reusing water.
